A hybrid or electric car has two batteries, and the one that stops it starting is usually the small one. The high-voltage battery that drives the car is dealer work. The 12V battery that wakes the car up is what QARO replaces at your parking bay anywhere in the UAE, starting from AED 425 fitted. QARO also handles the jump-start, tyres, flatbed towing and inspection that hybrid and EV owners need, 24/7.
Which battery is which
| Battery | What it does | When it fails | Who replaces it |
|---|---|---|---|
| High-voltage (traction) battery | Drives the car: the hybrid system or the electric motor | A drop in electric range or hybrid performance, or a hybrid-system warning | Your dealer; it is manufacturer work. Check whether it is still under the manufacturer’s warranty first. |
| 12V auxiliary battery | Wakes the car, runs the computers and unlocks the doors | The car will not switch on even though the main battery is charged | QARO battery replacement, at your car |
Searching for a “hybrid battery price” because your hybrid will not start? Check the 12V battery first. A flat 12V battery is the most common reason an EV will not start despite a full charge, and a common reason a hybrid will not start; it costs a fraction of a high-voltage battery.

What is different about your car
- Jump points, not always the battery. Many hybrids and EVs keep the 12V battery in the boot or under a seat and give you jump points under the bonnet. Use only the points your owner’s manual shows, and check the manual before using your car to jump-start another one.
- The 12V battery is often an AGM type in hybrids and EVs. Replace it with the type the car came with; the QARO app shows the right battery and price for your model before you confirm.
- Tow on a flatbed. A flatbed carries the car with all four wheels off the ground, which is how hybrids, EVs and all-wheel-drive cars should be moved.
- Tyres built for EVs. Tyre makers now build versions for electric and plug-in hybrid cars; Pirelli marks them “Elect”. If your car came on them, replace like for like. See tyre trends.
- Heat shortens 12V battery life in the UAE, as it does for any car battery: most last two to three years here.
What QARO does not do
- Replace or repair the high-voltage battery or the hybrid system. That is dealer work.
- Charge an EV’s main battery. QARO’s jump-start is for the 12V battery.
FAQs
- My hybrid will not start. Is it the hybrid battery? Usually not. If the dashboard stays dark or the car will not switch to “ready”, check the 12V battery first. A QARO jump-start, starting from AED 120, tells you quickly, and the technician tests the battery.
- How much is a hybrid battery in the UAE? The high-voltage battery is priced by your dealer and depends on the model. The 12V battery QARO fits is starting from AED 425; AGM types cost more, with the price for your car shown in the app.
- Can QARO replace the 12V battery in my EV? Yes, at your parking bay. The high-voltage pack is manufacturer work.
- Can my EV be towed? Yes, on a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground. QARO towing is starting from AED 175 within the emirate.
