Electric, hybrid and all-wheel-drive cars should be towed on a flatbed, with all four wheels off the ground. Towing them with the drive wheels turning can damage the drivetrain. A QARO flatbed tow lifts the whole car onto the truck and takes it to your dealer, your garage or home, starting from AED 175 within the emirate, 24/7 in all seven emirates.
Why these cars need a flatbed
- Electric cars: the motor is connected to the wheels. If the wheels turn while the car is towed, the motor turns too. Many owner’s manuals say an EV should only be transported with all four wheels off the ground.
- Hybrids: the same applies to the electric drive, and the manual usually says how the car may be moved.
- All-wheel-drive and 4x4 cars: every wheel is driven, so there is no pair of wheels that can safely roll on the road behind a truck.
- Low and sports cars: a flatbed avoids scraping the front on a lift.
Before the truck arrives
- Check the owner’s manual for any transport or tow mode, and how to release the parking lock if the car will not switch on.
- Tell us the car is electric, hybrid or all-wheel drive when you book, and where it should go: your dealer, a garage or home.
- On a highway, hazard lights on, everyone out on the side away from traffic and behind the barrier. In an emergency, call 999 first.
- Take valuables out before the car is loaded.
