A battery jump-start is using power from another source — a portable jump pack or a second car — to start an engine whose battery has gone flat. It gets you running again in a few minutes, but it doesn't repair a worn-out battery. With QARO, a mobile jump-start starts at AED 50, and the technician also tests whether your battery will hold or needs replacing.

How a jump-start works

A flat battery doesn't have enough charge to turn the starter motor. Connecting a charged power source provides the burst of current needed to crank the engine. Once running, the car's alternator takes over and begins recharging the battery — which is why a good drive afterwards matters.

Jump-start vs. battery replacement

A jump-start is a temporary fix. If the battery was simply drained (lights left on, a short trip, the car sat unused), a jump and a proper drive may restore it. But if the battery is worn out — common after 2–3 years in UAE heat — it will keep dying, and the real solution is a battery replacement (from AED 299). Our technician tests it on the spot so you know which one you need.

Is it safe to do yourself?

It can be, but connecting the cables in the wrong order or to the wrong terminals can spark, damage sensitive car electronics, or injure you. Modern cars with start-stop and lots of computers are less forgiving. A trained technician does it safely and confirms nothing else is wrong.
